Team records and their related playoff qualifying status are available now for Class 5A, Class 4A, and Class 3A following Week 9 of the 2022 regular season.

First round postseason assignments for 5A, 4A, and 3A will be posted on the IHSAA’s website (Home page, News page, Football page) on Saturday, October 22 at 10 a.m. Those first round contests will take place on Friday, October 28 at 7 p.m.

RATINGS PERCENTAGE INDEX
Classes: 5A, 4A, 3A.
Qualifiers: 16 per class.
Regular Season: 9 weeks.
About: Formula instituted in 2018 using team’s record, their opponents’ record, and their opponents opponents’ record to determine relative strength in a single regular season. Starting in 2021, Class 5A will use RPI to determine all 16 playoff qualifiers. In 4A and 3A, district champions and runners-up from each of the six districts will earn automatic qualifying spots. RPI will determine the remaining at-large qualifiers.

- Additional (5A): If three or more teams are in consecutive order in the final RPI listing and all the teams played each other, the qualifying list and seed list will NOT be changed due to multiple head-to-head scenarios. The initial final RPI will be the order used.
