Conference Realignment COMMITTEE

The Conference Realignment Committee, established by HF783 ahead of the 2025-26 school year, began meeting in Jan. 2026.

The committee is operating in combination with IHSAA and IGHSAU, with its own established bylaws, application procedures, and timelines for multiple circumstances. Committee members are active superintendents and activities directors from member schools.

This page is intended to provide a hub for member schools to access committee minutes, timelines, application procedures and other documents related to the work of the committee.

APPLICATIONS & FORMS

Districts that already had transfer plans unanimously supported by their current and future conferences but had not completed that process prior to the implementation of HF783 have been processed through the Expedited (Fast Track) Review process and are approved to begin competition in the new conference in the school year agreed upon by all parties.

The committee is now beginning the process of evaluating placement into conferences for those schools needing immediate relief due to lack of a current conference affiliation with the goal of having those parties placed over the next several months and ready to participate in their new conference in the 2027-28 school year.

HF783 requires all schools wishing to change conference affiliation after July 1, 2025 to gain approval from the Conference Realignment Committee prior to the transfer taking place. Schools currently planning conference affiliation changes for the 2026-27, 2027-28, or 2028-29 seasons are encouraged to contact the Conference Realignment Committee to ensure compliance with the process established by the committee.
