Iowa High School Boys Track & Field
The IHSAA’s Original Sport
The first boys’ state meet in track and field was held in 1906; the event marked the first of what would become the nation’s largest co-ed state meet. Track and field was sanctioned by the IHSAA before any others, and after more than 100 years of action, the sport easily remains Iowa’s biggest high school spring activity. The co-ed state meet is held with the IGHSAU at Drake Stadium in Des Moines each year.
