Ticket prices and session formats will be adjusted for spectators at the 2020 State Baseball Tournament as the IHSAA and the Iowa Cubs update event procedures due to COVID-19.

The Iowa Cubs have added a $2 facility fee on to each ticket, which will increase the overall ticket price to $12 each. Seating in all sessions will be reserved as the stadium has been restricted to around 1,800 seats to allow for social distancing. Due to the changes and efforts to limit cash transactions at Principal Park, the IHSAA is offering free parking for all days of the tournament on a first-come, first-serve basis.

An additional $2 will be added for online purchases through the Iowa Cubs’ ticketing services as well, taking advance tickets to $14 each. The IHSAA recommends spectators utilize the Iowa Cubs’ online ticketing system to ensure they have seats in their respective school sections upon arrival, and to limit lines and cash transactions at Principal Park.

Each participating school will receive an individualized link for online ticket purchases as soon as possible after qualification. This will begin a presale period for the school to share the link with the team, fans, or community. After the school presale period, tickets will be available online for the general public at 12:01 a.m. on the day of the game. The publicly available link will be posted at the Tickets page and the State Tournament Central page.

Walk-up tickets, if available, will be sold at the Principal Park box office before each game. Tickets will be required of all individuals ages three and up.

Spectators will be asked to exit Principal Park at the conclusion of each game to allow for facility cleaning and entry for ticketholders of the next game. Gates will open no earlier than one hour before the scheduled game time. Tickets will only be good for one game as each game will be considered a session at the 2020 event. No passes, including 2019-20 IHSAA administrator passes, will be accepted.

Game times have also been adjusted to allow for safer entry and cleaning of dugouts and equipment between contests. The new start time each day is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., with three hours between games.

The 2020 IHSAA State Baseball Tournament is scheduled for 28 games across four classes of competition from July 24 through August 1 at Principal Park in Des Moines. The event has been played at Principal Park since 2005. The Iowa High School Sports Network will broadcast the tournament via TV, app, and livestream.
